We got to Hana on a twisty road that followed the north shore.

There were bamboo groves in Haleakala National Park. Very Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Waimoku Falls–we hiked up to the falls through the bamboo forest.

We saw mountains at Iao Valley State Park, and the very distinctive Iao Needle.

I loved the lush moss and lichens on the twisting roots of the trees.

Indonesian Eucalyptus, with beautiful peeling bark. My friend Teri calls these Rainbow Trees.

Everywhere we looked, blossoms lay on the ground at our feet. I picked one up.
