Most visitors to The House on the Rock fixate on its star attraction, the World’s Largest Carousel, which features prominently in Neil Gaiman’s novel American Gods. It’s a pretty awe-inspiring carousel, I have to say.
But the really special thing about The House on the Rock is Alex Jordan’s imaginative collection of industrial salvage, which creates a sort of steampunk magical vibe reminiscent of the fairy world in Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy 2. Consider the Organ room, for example, which mixes old mechanical musical instruments:
Pipe organs and Clockpunk artwork:
And old distilling equipment.
Delightfully surreal!
