My week in New Mexico hasn’t been ideal for getting writing done, but like every great vacation, it’s allowed me to empty my brain and refill it again. On Friday, we went to the St. James Tearoom for high tea, and I refilled my brain with scones and clotted cream.
In the interest of looking like a true Jane Austen heroine, I borrowed an epic hat.
Then we occupied a quaint little tearoom and drank three pots of tea. I’m guessing that we weren’t necessarily expected to consume everything they brought us, but we did our best with the madeleines, cream scones, cucumber sandwiches, Sally Lunn cakes, white chocolate mousse, cherry chocolate tortes, melon cordials, candied pecans, and croissants.
